Verbreitung
Nordamerika: heimisch im größten Teil Ostkanadas von Neufundland und Labrador bis zur Westseite der Hudson Bay; südlich im Atlantikbecken und denen der Großen Seen und des Mississippi, bis nach Minnesota und Nord-Georgia (Applachian Mountains), USA; Quellgebiet des Chattahoochee River (Golfbecken). Wurde in Nordamerika und in den gemäßigten Regionen anderer Kontinente in großem Umfang eingeführt. Mehrere Länder melden nach ihrer Einführung nachteilige ökologische Auswirkungen.
