Etymologie
Von zone (= Band) und istium (= Flosse); bezieht sich auf das diagnostische Bandmuster der Flossenmembranen im hartstrahligen Teil der Rückenflosse von Männchen.
Verbreitung
Östliche U.S.A .: Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi und Alabama.

Status: Stand 2.11.2017: LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Es sind keine größeren Bedrohungen bekannt.
