Typusfundort: Sumpf bei Ilhéus, Bundesstaat Bahia, Brasilien, ca. 14°50'S, 39°15'W (Karte), Höhe ca. 40 m ü.d.M.
Etymologie
Diese Fischart wurde zu Ehren von Prof. Werner Carlos Augusto Bokermann, Herpetologe, benannt (Carvalho & Da Cruz, 1987).
Verbreitung
Brasilien: im Becken des Rio Cachoeira.
