Anmerkung

Der Catalog of Fishes benutzte Cynolebiidae (basierend auf Cynolebiatidi Hoedeman, 1961) anstelle des vorverwendeten Rivulidae (basierend auf Rivulini Myers, 1925), die von Rivulini Grote 1895, einer Unterfamilie (Rivulinae) von Motten in der Familie Erebidae, früher verwendet wurden. Zuerst bemerkt von:

Aber gemäß des Codes der ICZN muss die Kommission eine Entscheidung treffen:

Art. 55.3. Homonymy from similar generic names. Homonymy between family-group names may result from similarity but not identity of the names of their type genera. Art. 55.3.1. Such a case involving family-group names must be referred to the Commission for a ruling to remove homonymy unless the senior homonym is a nomen oblitum.

Nach Richard van der Laan, ist das nächste verfügbare Synonym Cynolebiidae Hoedeman, 1961 und dieser Name kann als der gültige Name für die Familie verwendet werden. Später (Van der Laan & Van Nieukerken, 2019) wurde ein Antrag an die Kommission gestellt, die Schreibweise der Motten-Unterfamilie zu Rivulainae anzupassen, wodurch Rivulidae wieder verwendet werden konnte.
