Etymologie
Aus dem griechischen nema, Faden, und Lebias, eine nominelle cyprinodontide Gattungsbezeichnung, die häufig verwendet wird, um Gattungsnamen der Familie Rivulidae zu bilden, bezogen auf die zylindrische und schlanke Körperform von Männern (Costa, 1998).
