Etymologie
Fasciatus (= gebändert), bezieht sich vermutlich auf fünf "zickzackförmige, lineare schwarze Streifen" auf der Schwanzflosse. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westatlantik: östlich-zentral Florida bis zu den Großen und Kleinen Antillen, Costa Rica, Panama und Venezuela, Karibisches Meer.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 9.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Auch wenn dies noch bestätigt werden muss, könnte diese Art lokal durch Verschmutzung und Lebensraumverlust aufgrund der Entwicklung von Küsten- und Versalzungsanlagen bedroht sein.
