Etymologie
Rhabdos (= Stange, Stock oder Stab), bezogen auf die langen und zahlreichen (~22) Kiemenrechen von Rhabdamia clupeiformis; Amia, ein nicht-binominaler Name, der von Gronow (1763) auf Apogon angewendet wurde und dem diese Gattung ähnelt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
