Etymologie
Coerulea (= blau); pinnatus (= mit Flossen), beschrieben als mit bläulichen ("coerulescens") Rücken-, Anal- und Schwanzflossen, d.h. silbrig-blau, gleich der Körperfarbe, bei lebenden Exemplaren. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Rotes Meer; Indo-Westpazifik: Ostafrika, Persischer Golf, Seychellen, Madagaskar und Réunion (Maskarenen), östlich bis Samoa und Tonga, nördlich bis zur Präfektur Nagasaki (Südjapan), südlich bis Nordaustralien.

Status: Stand 27.1.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Diese Art wird von Freizeitanglern mit Haken und Leinen gefangen und manchmal zufällig mit Kiemennetzen und Reusen in der handwerklichen Fischerei; es wurde jedoch kein Rückgang der Population infolge dieser Nutzung beobachtet oder vermutet. Es sind keine anderen größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt.
