Benannt nach der Typuslokalität, dem Đồng Nai.

Gefahren für diese Art: Tor dongnaiensis wird durch Dämme für Wasserkraftwerke, wie Đồng Nai 3, Đồng Nai 4 und Đồng Nai 5, sowie durch den Sandabbau im Fluss bedroht.
