Typusfundort: Mitchell Falls, Mitchell River, nördliche Kimberley Region, Western Australia, 14°49'10.06"S, 125°41'29.13"E (Karte).
Etymologie
Nach dem Wunambal Stamm und der Sprachgruppe im Bereich des Mitchell Rivers benannt, in dem der Fisch gefunden wird.
Verbreitung
Kommt im gesamten Mitchell-River-Einzugsgebiet in der nördlichen Kimberley-Region vor, West-Australien.
