Etymologie
Von sima (= stumpf-nasig), bezogen auf eine stumpfe, abgerundete Schnauze, die über ein kleines Maul hängt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Aus dem östlichen Teil des Tiefland-Amazonas-Beckens bekannt, mit den meisten bekannten Exemplaren aus der Nähe seiner Mündung.
