Typusfundort: Ua Pou (Karte), Marquesas-Inseln, Französisch-Polynesien.
Etymologie
Squamosus (= beschuppt), weil es der Stenogobius mit den meisten Schuppen ist, der von den Marquesas-Inseln stammt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
