Typusfundort: Südwestlicher Indischer Ozean.
Etymologie
Von acutus (= spitz); pinna (= Flosse), wahrscheinlich bezogen auf die Rückenflossenstacheln. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westlicher Indischer Ozean.
