Etymologie

Proteros (= früher); rhinos (= Schnauze), bezieht sich auf das vordere röhrenförmige Nasenloch von Proterorhinus marmoratus, „angeordnet am vorderen unteren Rand des Präorbitals“. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
