Etymologie
Brevis (= kurz); manus (= Hand), bezieht sich auf die kürzere Brustflosse im Vergleich zu Tilapia melanopleura (= Coptodon zillii), seinem damals vermuteten Verwandten. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Guinea-Bissau (Geba- und Corubal-Fluss) bis Liberia (Cess-Fluss), in Mittel- und Unterläufen der Küstenflüsse; möglicherweise auch in der Elfenbeinküste vorhanden.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 1.9.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
