Typusfundort: Brasilien, Bundesstaat Rio de Janeiro, temporäre Pfützen am Rande der alten Straße zwischen Rio de Janeiro und Petrópolis,
in der Nähe von Imbariê, Gemeinde Duque de Caxias, Einzugsgebiet des Flusses Estrela (Übersetzt aus: Costa, 2009), 22°36'S, 43°12'W.
Etymologie
Aus dem Lateinischen opalescens (als Opal), bezogen auf die vorherrschende Färbung bei männlichen Tieren (Übersetzt aus: Costa, 2009).
Verbreitung
Einzugsgebiete der Flüsse Estrela und Iguaçu, beide entwässern in die Guanabara Bucht, Bundesstaat Rio de Janeiro, Brasilien (Übersetzt aus: Costa, 2009).
