Holotypus: ZSI F12925.
Typusfundort: Bucht von Bengalen, vor der Küste von Ganjam, Bengalen, Investigator Station 78, Tiefe 18 Faden.
Etymologie
Ursprünglich als Bezeichnung für eine Variante vorgeschlagen, ist longipinnis eine Verschmelzung des lateinischen longus (= lange) und pinna (= Flosse), in Bezug auf die längere Brustflosse, die von Alcock (1890) in Betracht gezogen wurde, um das zu unterscheiden, was jetzt als eigenständig von Lepidotrigla spiloptera Günther, 1860 anerkannt wird.
Verbreitung
Begrenzt auf die Küstengewässer des nördlichen Indischen Ozeans, mindestens von Bombay, Indien bis südlich des Äquators vor der Westküste Sumatras, Indonesien, in Tiefen von 70 bis mindestens 107 m.
