Etymologie
Maximus (= größter), vermutlich bezogen auf die Größe (25,4 cm) im Vergleich zu damals vermuteten Artgenossen in Apogon. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westlicher Indischer Ozean: Oman Ost- bis Südwestindien.
