Typusfundort: Lagune auf der Insel Arji, Bikini Atoll, Westpazifik, Tiefe 20-40 Fuß.
Etymologie
Bi- (= zwei); ocellatus (= mit augenähnlichen Flecken), bezieht sich auf ein Paar schwarzer Flecken auf der Rückenflosse von Jungtieren und Weibchen. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Indonesien östlich bis Mikronesien und Samoa, nördlich bis zu den Amami-Inseln (südliches Japan), südlich bis Australien und Neukaledonien.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 23.09.2021:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Diese Art wird für den Aquarienfischhandel gefangen, was aber keine größere Gefahr darstellt. In Guam wird sie auch in der traditionellen Fischerei als Nahrungsmittel gefangen.
