Etymologie
Minor (= kleiner), im Vergleich zu Gymnothorax albimarginatus, Gymnothorax kidako und Enchelycore pardalis. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westpazifik: Südhonshu, Japan bis Südchina und Taiwan. Westaustralien bis New South Wales.
