Typusfundort: Ägypten, Suezkanal.
Etymologie
Vermutlich eine Latinisierung von ochetos (= griechisch für Aquädukt oder Leitung), mit Bezug auf den Suezkanal, den Typusfundort. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Rotes Meer: Ägypten (Suezkanal, Golf von Suez und Ras Muhammad), Saudi-Arabien (Ras Hatiba) und Eritrea (Dahlak-Archipel). Ein einziger Nachweis im Mittelmeer aus Port Said, Ägypten, ein Exemplar wurde in der Lagune von Bardawil, Ägypten, gesammelt.

Status: Stand 29.6.2022:EN Endangered (stark gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es gibt eine Reihe von Bedrohungen für marine Arten im Suezkanal, darunter Verschmutzung, Ausbaggerung, Lebensraumveränderung und Schifffahrt, aber keine spezifischen Daten, die eine Bedrohung für diese Art bestätigen. Im Jahr 2015 wurde der Kanal für die Schifffahrt verbreitert, was die Bedrohung für die lokalen Arten möglicherweise noch verschärft.
