Etymologie
Aureus (= Gold), in Anlehnung an seinen gebräuchlichen Namen, pla bu tong (Goldgrundel), entlang des Chao Phraya Flusses in Thailand. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Westküste Indiens östlich bis zu den Philippinen und Papua-Neuguinea, nördlich bis Taiwan, südlich bis Nordaustralien.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 13.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt. In Teilen ihres Verbreitungsgebiets kann diese Art von der Zerstörung oder Verschlechterung ihres Lebensraums betroffen sein, manchmal als Folge von Naturkatastrophen (z. B. Erdbeben und damit verbundene Erdrutsche und Flussschäden).
