Etymologie
Inter (= (lat.) zwischen); medius (= (lat.) in der Mitte), bezieht sich vermutlich darauf, dass diese Art in ihrer Form zwischen Dipturus batis und Dipturus oxyrinchus liegt. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Westliches Mittelmeer; nordöstlicher Atlantik: Island und Norwegen südlich bis Senegal, einschließlich Madeira und Kanarische Inseln.
