Etymologie
Xanthos (= gr. für gelb); ovum (= Ei), bezieht sich auf die gelben, eierähnlichen Strukturen am distalen Ende der zweiten Rückenflossenstrahlen bei laichenden Männchen.
Verbreitung
USA: beschränkt auf das Einzugsgebiet des Clarks Rivers, eines Nebenflusses des Tennessee Rivers, der kurz vor der Einmündung in den Ohio River im Westen von Kentucky und Tennessee liegt.
