Oblongus (= länglich), bezogen auf eine länglichere Form im Vergleich zu Erimyzon sucetta. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
USA: von Maine bis zum Altamaha River in Georgia; Entwässerung des Ontariosees in New York; vom Chattahoochee River in Alabama und dem Escambia River in Florida bis zum San Jacinto River in Texas; untere Great Lakes und Mississippi River Becken von Michigan und Wisconsin bis zum Golf von Mexiko.

Status: Stand 24.11.2021:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Die Populationen in Bächen, die der Verlandung ausgesetzt waren, gingen offenbar früher zurück.
