Etymologie
Vermutlich ein lokaler Name für diesen Karpfenfisch. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Brahmaputra-Flussbecken, Indien, Nepal und Bhutan.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 23.01.2018: LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Grund für die Gefährdungseinstufung: Obwohl die Art weit verbreitet ist, ist sie ein Substratspezialist. In seinem gesamten Verbreitungsgebiet werden die Geröllblöcke und der Kies entnommen, was zu einem Verlust von Lebensräumen führt, begleitet von anderen Bedrohungen durch Entwaldung, Dammbauten und Verschlammung.
