Etymologie

Stigmaticus (= markiert), vermutlich durch vier schwarze vertikale Streifen, drei auf der Wange und einen auf dem Kiemendeckel. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)

Westlicher Atlantik: North Carolina bis zum südlichsten Brasilien, einschließlich Golf von Mexiko und Karibisches Meer.
