Typusfundort: Flussmündung bei Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Westmexiko.
Etymologie
-cola (= Bewohner von:) mangle, bezieht sich auf die Wurzeln der Mangrovensträucher, Rhizophora mangle, wo das Typusexemplar gefunden wurde. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Östlicher Pazifik: Golf von Kalifornien, Mexiko südlich bis Nordperu.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 9.7.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es sind keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art bekannt. Allerdings bedrohen die Zerstörung der Mangroven und die Entwicklung der Küstengebiete einschließlich der Garnelen-Aquakultur ihren Lebensraum in ihrem gesamten Verbreitungsgebiet.
