Etymologie
En- (= sehr); ophrys (= Augenbraue), bezieht sich vermutlich auf den dicken, knöchernen Supraorbitalkamm von Enophrys claviger (= Enophrys diceraus), "der den vorderen Teil des Kopfes keulenförmig macht". (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
