Typusfundort: Rio Itacaiúnas at Caldeirão, Pará, Brazil.
Etymologie
Der Name piquiti stammt aus der Tupi-Guarani Sprache; piquiti heißt gestreift.
Verbreitung
Einzugsgebiete der Ríos Tocantins und Capim, Brasilien und Bolivien.
