Etymologie
A- (= nicht); ceratus (= gehörnt), bezieht sich auf das Fehlen eines Stachels auf der Schnauze, wie er bei Channichthys rhinoceratus, seinem damals vermuteten Verwandten, zu sehen ist. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
