Typusfundort: Tümpel im Bundesstaat Guarico, Río Orinoco-Einzugsgebiet, Venezuela.
Etymologie
übergehend, Anspielung nicht erklärt, vielleicht in Bezug auf ihre „bemerkenswerteste“ Ähnlichkeit dieser venezolanischen Art mit den afrikanischen Adiniops (Untergattung von Nothobranchius, Nothobranchiidae), obwohl diese „Ähnlichkeit eher eine Frage des Parallelismus als einer engen Verwandtschaft zu sein scheint“ (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project).
