Typen
Holotypus: SMF 16394.
Typusfundort: Orinoco-Delta, Ostvenezuela, zwischen den Städten Tucupita (09°05'N, 62°03'W) und Barancas (08°42'N, 62°11'W).
Etymologie
deltaphilus: der das Delta (Fiußdelta) liebende, bezieht sich auf den Fundort dieser Fischart.
Verbreitung
Unteres Orinoco-Becken und angrenzende Gebiete, Venezuela.
