Etymologie
Alectis (= Hühnerhahn), in Anspielung auf die Namen Seehahn, Seehuhn und Fischhahn, die damals für die Mitglieder der Gattung Zeus (Zeiformes: Zeidae) verwendet wurden, in die Alectis ciliaris ursprünglich eingeordnet worden war (als Ersatzname für Gallus Lacepède, 1802, was ebenfalls Hühnerhahn bedeutet, der in Vögeln vorbelegt war).
