Etymologie
Luteus (= gelb); pinnis (= Flosse), bezieht sich auf die Farbe der Flossen der Männchen im Brutkleid. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Abhänge zum Atlantik und zum Golf von Mexiko, vom Santee River in North Carolina bis zum Altamaha River, dem oberen Chattahoochee River und dem oberen Coosa River System in Georgia, USA, und im Little Tennessee River System (Tennessee River Drainage) in North Carolina, USA; z.B.: Candler Creek, Groove Creek, Beaverdam Creek, South Edisto River, Indian Creek, Turkey Creek, Ashworth Creek, Lynches Creek.

Status: Stand 23.09.2023:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es mag lokale Bedrohungen geben, aber für das gesamte Verbreitungsgebiet sind keine größeren Bedrohungen bekannt.
