Etymologie
Von notos (= Rücken); tropis (= gekielt), bezogen auf geriffelten oder gekielten Rücken, möglicherweise aufgrund des Schrumpfens der untersuchten Notropis atherinoides-Exemplares von Rafinesque. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
