Etymologie

"Senticeps" bezieht sich auf die dornige oder stachelige Erscheinung des Kopfes (sentis (= Dorn, Brombeerstrauch), ceps (= Kopf)) von geschlechtsreifen Männchen aufgrund der Entwicklung von deutlich spitzen Tuberkeln an der Schnauze, entlang der inneren Kanten der Nasen und Augenhöhlen und an der Stirn.

Verbreitung

Pseudobarbus senticeps (bezeichnet als 'Krom lineage' von Swartz et al., 2007, 2009) ist endemisch für das Krom River System, das in die St. Francis Bay entwässert.
