Etymologie

Von hepta (= sieben); tretos (= perforiert), bezieht sich auf sieben Kiemenöffnungen bei der Art, die später als Homea banksii (= Eptatretus cirrhatus) bezeichnet werden würde [innerhalb der Gattung beträgt die Variation 6-14 Paare von Kiemenöffnungen]. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
