Typusfundort: Etwa 14° S, vor Mosambik, westlicher Indischer Ozean, Tiefe 80 Faden (als Mageninhalt).
Etymologie
Profundus (= tief), Anspielung nicht erklärt, möglicherweise bezogen auf den Fang des Holotypus in 146 m Tiefe, im Magen von Pristipomoides microlepis (= Pristipomoides filamentosus, Lutjaniformes: Lutjanidae). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
