Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren von John Treadwell Nichols (1883-1958), Kurator für Fische am American Museum of Natural History, der diese Art im Jahr 1928 als Gobiobotia pappenheimi identifizierte.
Verbreitung
China: Dongting-See, mittleres Jangtse-Becken.
