Typusfundort: Kawa, westliches Ceram [Seram, Provinz Maluku, Indonesien, Selat Boano/Strait of Boano, Seram Sea] [ca. 3°01'S, 128°04'E (Karte)].
Etymologie
Kypselos (= Schwalbe (Vogel)); oura (= Schwanz), bezieht sich vermutlich auf die tief gegabelte Schwanzflosse mit spitzen Lappen, wie bei einer Schwalbe. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Pazifik: Ostafrika bis zu den Marshallinseln, nördlich bis zu den Ryukyu-Inseln, südlich bis Neuguinea. Berichtet aus Tonga und dem Persischen Golf.
