Typusfundort: Vor der Nordküste von Mindanao, Philippinen, 8°37'37"N, 124°35'E (Karte), Albatros-Station 5502, Tiefe 214 Faden [391 m].
Etymologie
Nigro- (= Schwarz); dorsalis (= Rückenflosse), bezieht sich auf einen schwarzen Fleck auf der ersten Rückenflosse. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Weit verbreitet von Westaustralien, östlich bis in die neukaledonische Region und nördlich bis zum Ostchinesischen Meer vor Taiwan in Tiefen von etwa 300 bis 800 m.
