Etymologie
Micro- (= klein); lepis (= Schuppe), Anspielung nicht erklärt, bezieht sich vielleicht auf die zahlreicheren (vermutlich kleineren) Schuppen entlang der Seitenlinie im Vergleich zu den meisten mutmaßlichen Verwandten zu dieser Zeit (13-16), mit Ausnahme von Trichopodus trichopterus (20-25). Thailand und Kambodscha; anderswo eingeführt.
IUCN Status
Status: Stand 14.11.2022:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Es wurden keine größeren Bedrohungen für diese Art gemeldet, aber die Verschmutzung von Feuchtgebieten, die Infrastruktur und das Ablassen von Wasser können sich auf die Art auswirken.
