Etymologie
Trachos (= rau), bezieht sich auf die Haut von Trachonurus villosus, die „dicht mit aufrechten Stacheln besetzt“ ist; –urus von Macrourus, vorgeschlagen als dessen Untergattung. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
