Etymologie
Benannt zu Ehren des schwedischen Naturforschers Daniel Solander (1733-1782), der diese Art während Cooks erster Reise (1768-1771) entdeckte und sie in einem unveröffentlichten Manuskript beschrieb. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Indo-Westpazifik: Ostafrika, Mosambik-Kanal, westliche Maskarenen, östlich bis zu den Hawaii-Inseln und dem Tuamotu-Archipel, nördlich bis zu den Ryukyu-Inseln, Festlandchina, Taiwan, südlich bis Neukaledonien.
