Typusfundort: Vor der Cossack Road, Katherine River, 14°32'52.8"S, 132°7'48"E (Karte).
Etymologie
Der spezifische Name bonapartensis bezieht sich auf die Verbreitung der Art, die auf Drainagen beschränkt ist, die einst in den Paläolake, Lake Bonaparte, flossen.
Verbreitung
Wurde in allen untersuchten Einzugsgebieten, vom Drysdale River im nördlichen Kimberley (Western Australia) bis zum Finnis River (Northern Territory) gefunden. Eine Reihe von Flüssen bleibt in diesem Bereich (insbesondere die Flüsse Berkley und Forrest) unbeachtet, hier wurde das Vorkommen nicht bestätigt.
