Etymologie

Etymologie nicht geklärt, möglicherweise von synagris (= altgriechischer Name von Dentex dentex (Acanthuriformes: Sparidae), der auf Aristoteles zurückgeht; ops (= Aussehen) (obwohl wir keine Ähnlichkeit erkennen können). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
