Etymologie
Angustus (= schmal); -ceps (= Kopf), bezieht sich auf den länglicheren Kopf im Vergleich zu Sphoeroides annulatus (der in derselben Veröffentlichung beschrieben wurde). (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Östlicher Pazifik: endemisch für die Galapagos-Inseln.
