Benannt nach der Typuslokalität, den Fidschi Inseln.
Verbreitung
Westpazifik: Papua-Neuguinea, Fidschi, Neukaledonien.

Status: Stand 15.05.2019:LC Least Concern (nicht gefährdet)
Gefahren für diese Art: Sardinella fijiensis ist für die Fischerei von untergeordneter wirtschaftlicher Bedeutung. Diese Art wird nur in nachhaltigen Mengen von Fischern auf Fidschi gefangen. Sie wird wahrscheinlich mit Strandwaden gefischt. Beim Thunfischfang wir sie als Köder verwendet und in der chinesischen Medizin eingesetzt. Der Fang dieser Art wird angesichts des geringen Fischereiaufwands und der raschen Populationszyklus nicht als signifikante Bedrohung für die Gesamtpopulation angesehen.
