Etymologie
Lucius (= Hecht); perca (= Barsch), d.h. Hechtbarsch, in Anlehnung an seine hechtartige Form. (Übersetzt aus: The ETYFish Project)
Verbreitung
Europa und Asien: Becken des Kaspischen Meeres, der Ostsee, des Schwarzen Meeres und des Aralsees; Einzugsgebiete der Elbe (Nordseebecken) und der Maritza (Ägäisbecken). Nördlich bis etwa 65° N in Finnland. Weit verbreitet eingeführt.
